05 May A Message from Navan RFC: Departure of Head Coach Ryan ‘Robbo’ Roberts
Navan Rugby Football Club can today confirm that Senior Men’s Head Coach Ryan ‘Robbo’ Roberts has left his role with the senior men’s teams by mutual agreement.
Robbo joined us from Australia ahead of the 2025/26 season and has worked tirelessly to build a competitive, resilient squad. While results on the pitch have been mixed, Robbo’s true legacy lies in his commitment to developing home-grown talent.
Over the past season, Robbo handed Senior Men’s first-fifteen debuts to seven young players who have come up through our own underage and youth structures. That number speaks volumes about his willingness to trust local lads, give them a platform, and invest in the long-term health of the club. For that, we are sincerely grateful. Those seven caps are not just milestones for the individuals involved, they bode exceptionally well for the future of Navan Rugby, and for the message it sends to every player in our mini and youth sections: your club is watching, and your chance will come.
While Robbo has finished his duties as head coach, he intends to remain in the Navan area until the end of June. This gives all members, players, coaches, volunteers and supporters, ample opportunity to thank him in person, share a story, and wish him well over the coming weeks.
On behalf of the executive committee and every member of Navan Rugby Football Club, we formally thank Ryan for his energy, honesty and hard work. We also extend our very best wishes to Robbo and his wife Taya as they prepare for their next chapter.
