Abigail & Maggie Kerin Selected for Irish Girls U18 Touch Rugby Team

The incredible production line of elite female talent at Balreask Old continues to shine, as everyone at Navan RFC is bursting with pride following the latest international selection news.

Huge congratulations to our standout youth players, Abigail Kerin and Maggie Kerin, who have both been officially selected for the Ireland Girls U18 Touch Rugby Team!

Following a highly competitive and rigorous national trial process, both girls showcased their exceptional talent to earn a spot on the full international squad. They will now travel to the UK this August to represent their country at the European Touch Rugby Championships.

Transitioning to a new, highly specialized strand of international rugby is an immense athletic challenge, but Abigail and Maggie rose to the occasion with absolute confidence.

Throughout the trial campaign, their core rugby skills, explosive adaptability, and deep tactical understanding of the game were clearly evident to the national selectors. Their achievement proves that the high standard of coaching and player development they receive at Navan RFC translates seamlessly across all formats of the sport.

By pulling on the green jersey this August, Abigail and Maggie are writing their own names into the club’s history books. They proudly follow a prestigious path paved by their fellow Balreask Old clubmates; Allie Flynn & Michelle Claffey.

This is a phenomenal milestone for both girls, their incredibly proud families, and the entire Navan RFC community. It serves as yet another shining example to all the young girls togging out in our Minis and Youth sections that the pathway from local training pitches to major European championships is wide open.

The very best of luck to Abigail and Maggie as they enter a rigorous block of international training ahead of the tournament. We are all behind you!
