27 Feb Century Up for Navan RFC Physio Gavin Yore
Navan RFC Men’s 1st XV’s Round 13 Energia All-Ireland League Division 2B fixture away to Rainey marked a major milestone for team physio, his 100th AIL game with the squad.
A Certified Athletic Therapist, Gavin hails from Carrickmacross via Kilmessan, and his journey with Navan RFC has been a unique and valued one. His initial involvement with the club began supporting the Women’s squad, while also working across elite environments including Leinster Rugby, the Dublin Senior Football Team, and even the Australia national rugby union team.
Gavin later moved into a full-time role with Leinster Rugby’s senior men’s squad for two seasons before stepping away from professional rugby to focus on family life. In time, the connection with Navan RFC was renewed and he has been a cornerstone of the Men’s 1st XV setup ever since.
One standout memory from his time with the team?
Peter McEntaggart’s dramatic last-minute try against at Balreask Old in March 2024, sealing a famous 15–11 victory over the then league leaders.
A Key Part of the Weekly Setup
Gavin’s commitment to the squad goes far beyond matchday. His weekly routine typically includes:
- Attending Monday review sessions
- Tuesday evening training at Balreask Old
- Preparing individual rehab programmes
- Managing player recovery and return-to-play protocols
His professionalism, calm presence and expertise play a vital role in keeping players fit, prepared and performing at their best.
