Connor called into Wolfhounds Squad

Navan RFC Women’s player Alex Connor has been called into the Wolfhounds squad for their Celtic Challenge Round 5 fixture at home to Scottish side Glasgow Warriors, taking place this Sunday in Virgin Media Park, Cork (kick-off 3.00pm).

This latest call-up represents another important milestone in a rugby journey that began in the Navan RFC youths system. Alex enjoyed an outstanding 2025, having previously captained Leinster Under 18 Women and represented the North-East Area. Her development was further recognised with selection in extended Ireland Under 18 Women’s training squads, along with being named Under 18 Girls Players’ Player of the Year at Navan RFC’s end-of-season awards last May.

Over the summer, Alex was included in the Leinster Rugby Senior Women’s extended 65-player training squad ahead of the Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship in August. While she was not named in the final interprovincial squad, she continued her progression through involvement in the IRFU Women’s National Talent Squad development programme.

This season, Alex has firmly established herself as a key member of the Navan RFC Women’s 1st XV, consistently impressing in the Leinster League with her skill level, leadership qualities, and work rate.

Alex’s selection means double Navan RFC representation in the Celtic Challenge this weekend, with Rosie Searle also continuing her involvement with the Clovers, following her recent Ireland training squad call-up. The Clovers face Welsh side Brython Thunder earlier on Sunday in Cork (kick-off 12.00pm).

Everyone at Navan RFC wishes Alex and Rosie the very best of luck and looks forward to following their continued progress at the highest level.
