Conor Mackarel Claims Cara Cup at NRFC Golf Society President’s Day

The Navan RFC Golfing Society’s annual President’s Day took place last Friday, 21st August, at Royal Tara Golf Club, with 36 competitors taking to the fairways for one of the most anticipated social events on the club calendar.

It turned out to be a historic outing, as Conor Mackarel delivered an extraordinary performance to claim the coveted Cara Cup. Carding an impressive score of 39 points, Conor finished a clear 3 points ahead of the rest of the field to become the youngest winner in the trophy’s 42-year history!

Golf Society President John McLarney (aka “Mac”) had the honor of presenting the Cara Cup to Conor during the evening festivities.

A fantastic day of golf and camaraderie was enjoyed by players and supporters alike. The course at Royal Tara was in top-class condition, a testament to the skill and hard work of the local greenkeeping staff.

Following the action on the course, members gathered in the clubhouse for a 2-course dinner, rounded off by an entertaining and memorable speech from President John McLarney.

A huge thank you goes out to the hardworking organizing committee; John McLarney, David Healy, and Brian Gaughran, for their efforts in putting together another top-class President’s Day for the wider Navan RFC community.

Congratulations again to Conor Mackarel on his milestone victory!
