Happy International Women’s Day 2026

Navan RFC Celebrates Women & Girls in Rugby

Today we proudly celebrate all the incredible women on and off the pitch at Navan RFC. Their passion, leadership, dedication and community spirit continue to drive the growth of women’s and girls’ rugby throughout our club.

We are tremendously lucky to have inspiring leaders guiding our teams, including Head Coach Jackie Shiels, alongside her right-hand wife Michelle Claffey, with the ever-organised Edwina Connor supporting as team manager. Their work, alongside our captains and female coaches, continues to build a fantastic environment for players of all ages.

Outstanding Achievements

  • A phenomenal achievement by Alex Connor and Rosie Searle, who were called up for international duty in the Celtic Challenge.

  • At just 18 years old, Aoife White became a Leinster Branch Referee, joining Michelle Claffey on the officiating panel.

  • Emma O’Rourke from our Under 18s represented Leinster last August in the PwC Under-18 Women’s Interprovincial Championship, helping the province to victory.

A Strong Pathway

Navan RFC continues to build a thriving girls’ pathway from Minis right up to Under-18.5, with a strong presence in the Leinster North-East competitions. From competitive matches to team days out and end-of-season trips, the journey is about far more than rugby, it’s about friendships, confidence and opportunity.

We are proud to continue growing women’s and girls’ rugby at Navan RFC and creating a place where players can develop, compete and belong.

  • BE STRONG.
  • BE FIERCE.
  • BE YOURSELF.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women who make our club what it is.
