Navan RFC’s youth setup was front and center in Galway over the weekend as our own Conor Martin and Jimmy Shorten played starring roles in Leinster U18 Clubs’ hard-fought 26-19 win over Connacht at Creggs RFC!
The victory makes it two wins from two for the province in the PwC U18 Clubs Interprovincial Championship, keeping their perfect record intact following their opening-round triumph over Ulster.
Starting once again at scrum-half, Conor Martin delivered a star performance, pulling the strings at 9 and dictating the tempo of the game from the opening whistle.
In a match-winning display of composure and skill, Conor scored two crucial tries and slotted three conversions, accounting for an incredible 16 points of Leinster’s 26-point total!

After packing a punch in the back row in Round 1, Jimmy Shorten shifted into the engine room at lock for the clash in Creggs.
Jimmy adjusted seamlessly to the second row, bringing immense physical power, work rate, and athleticism to the tight five to help Leinster establish set-piece dominance and edge a fierce physical battle.
Clubmate Evan Lawless also continues to play a vital role within the setup, providing key support and depth as part of the wider Leinster U18 Clubs squad as they push for championship honours.
