27 Feb Men’s 3rd XV Grind Out Win Under Friday Night Lights
Leinster Metro League – Division 7
Navan 10 Old Belvedere 5
Friday 27th February | Balreask Old
Navan RFC Men’s 3rd XV secured a hard-earned 10–5 victory over Old Belvedere on Friday evening at Balreask Old in Leinster Metro League Division 7.
In a tightly contested encounter where scoring opportunities were limited, accuracy from the tee proved decisive. A Stuart Byrne try along with a successful conversion and a well-struck penalty by Conor Cribbin Hayes ultimately made the difference, ensuring the home side claimed the valuable league points.
Navan showed strong defensive resolve throughout, holding Old Belvedere to a single try scored only at the last play of the game and managing the game effectively in challenging conditions.
Winger Jack Donnelly delivered an excellent all-round performance and was deservedly named Navan RFC Player of the Match, making a strong impact both in attack and defence.
The squad now benefit from an extra day’s rest before turning their attention to an away fixture against Blackrock College on Saturday 7th March, where they will look to build further momentum in the league campaign.
