Navan RFC Men’s 3rd XV were edged out in a closely fought home contest on Friday night, with Old Wesley emerging 20–12 winners at Balreask Old.
In a tight and competitive league fixture, Old Wesley made the most of their opportunities, crossing for four tries, while Navan responded with two well-earned scores of their own. The game remained in the balance for long periods, with Navan showing plenty of commitment and defensive resolve, but the visitors’ ability to convert pressure into points ultimately proved the difference.
Navan battled hard throughout and were well in the contest right to the closing stages, with strong efforts across the park in what was an evenly matched encounter.
Andy Kiernan was named “The Central” Player of the Match following an impressive all-round performance, leading by example and driving standards in a physical contest.
Despite the result, there were encouraging signs for the Men’s 3rd XV as they continued their Division 7 campaign.
