19 Jan Men’s U20s Claim Impressive Away Win Over Trinity
Leinster JP Fanagan (U20) – Premier 2 – Super Six Group 2
Dublin University (Trinity) 17 Navan 24
Sunday 18th January | Santry
Navan RFC Men’s Under 20s produced a strong and disciplined performance to secure an excellent 24–17 away victory over Dublin University (Trinity) in Santry on Sunday afternoon.
In a competitive and physical contest, Navan showed great composure and attacking intent, taking their opportunities well and defending resolutely when under pressure from the hosts.
Navan’s scoring was led by captain Declan O’Connor, who crossed for two well-earned tries, continuing his fine form this season. Further tries from Caolon Duffy and Ciall Flynn ensured Navan kept their noses in front, while Philip Smyth was accurate from the tee, adding two important conversions.
The pack laid a strong platform throughout the game, with Navan matching Trinity’s physicality and work rate, particularly in the tight exchanges. When Trinity threatened to build momentum, Navan’s defensive organisation and breakdown work proved decisive.
A standout performance came from Fionn Craik, who was deservedly named “The Central Navan” Player of the Match following a tireless display at hooker, combining strong set-piece work with impressive contributions around the park.
This victory represents another positive step in Navan’s JP Fanagan League campaign and highlights the depth and quality coming through the club’s Under 20 pathway.
