The Executive Committee, trustees, players, and members of Navan Rugby Football Club wish to extend their deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and neighbors of Michael “Mick” Foley (Hurdlestown, Kells, Co. Meath), who passed away peacefully last night.
Navan RFC has lost a true titan of its history. Mick was a bona fide club legend throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s during which he won three Leinster Provincial Towns Cup Medals, leaving an indelible mark on the rugby landscape of the Royal County. He proudly captained Navan RFC during the 1970/1971 season, leading the club with the immense grit, passion, and distinction that defined his playing days.
In addition to his storied career in the Navy & Sky Blue jersey, Mick’s elite sporting prowess was recognized provincially when he was selected to represent the County Meath regional team in the prestigious Leinster Counties competition during the 1960s.
The club extends its solidarity and prayers to the entire Foley family at this deeply difficult time.
Funeral Arrangements
- Reposing At McEntee’s Funeral Home, Kells (A82 K0D7) on Monday afternoon from 4PM to 7PM.
- Removal: Departing on Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM to arrive at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Clonmellon, Co. Westmeath, for Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
- Cremation: Following the mass, a cremation service will take place at 1 PM in Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan.

Club Guard of Honour Notice
As a supreme mark of respect to our former captain, Navan RFC will be forming a formal Guard of Honour outside the church in Clonmellon directly following the conclusion of the Funeral Mass.
Club representative Gerry Williamson is liaising directly with the undertakers to manage the logistics at the church.
Any club members, past players, or representatives attending the funeral are asked to please locate Gerry outside the church prior to the end of the service, and he will organize the formation.
Members who possess a white/light-blue shirt, official club tie, and club blazer are respectfully requested to wear them. However, if you do not have these items, please come in formal attire, your presence to honor Mick is what matters most to the club and the family.
