Navan Quartet Shine for North-Leinster U17’s at IRFU Blitz in Mullingar

The momentum keeps building for our young stars on the provincial stage! Navan RFC extends a massive well done to Evan Lynch, Asanka Varney, Sean Masterson, and Killian Fagan, who represented the club with distinction once again in the second major event of the Leinster Under-17 Youths pathway program.

Following their impressive showing at Energia Park last week, the four lads stepped onto the pitch at Mullingar RFC on Wednesday, 19th August, taking part in the IRFU Under-17 National Provincial Development Blitz.

The high-performance festival brought together the finest age-grade talent in the country, featuring a premier 10-team lineup across all four provinces:

  • Leinster: 2 Clubs teams (North-Leinster & South-Leinster) + 2 Schools selections
  • Connacht: 2 representative teams
  • Munster: 2 representative teams
  • Ulster: 2 representative teams

Lining out for the newly condensed North-Leinster Clubs selection (combining top talent from the Midlands, North-East, and Metro areas), Evan, Asanka, Sean, and Killian took on fierce interprovincial competition in high-tempo fixtures against Connacht, Ulster, and Munster teams.

The North-Leinster side delivered an outstanding account of themselves throughout the day, playing sharp, expansive, and high-intensity rugby.

Our four Balreask Old representatives were at the very heart of the action, showcasing great work rates, physicality, and execution to help secure a fantastic three victories out of three matches across the blitz!

Seeing Evan, Asanka, Sean, and Killian excel consistently at the national development level highlights both their individual dedication and the exceptional standard of coaching within the youth section at Navan RFC.

Three wins from three on national stage duty, a phenomenal achievement for the lads, their families, and their club coaches.

Well done, boys! Keep up the brilliant work as the U17 pathway program continues!
