28 Jan Navan RFC Out West!
Last Saturday saw Navan RFC head west in huge numbers, with 300+ members and supporters making the trip to Galway for a marathon and memorable day of rugby in the City of the Tribes.
The action got underway early at Crowley Park, home of Galwegians, where our Under 11 Minis kicked things off with a morning blitz. They lined out against hosts Galwegians alongside teams from Lansdowne and Ballina. Heavy rain earlier in the day made conditions challenging underfoot, but spirits were high and the young Navan players thoroughly enjoyed their time on the pitch.

At midday, attention turned to our Under 18.5 Boys, who took on Galwegians in a Challenge Match, showcasing great energy and commitment ahead of the afternoon’s senior fixture. That was followed by the Men’s 1st XV facing Galwegians in Round 11 of the Energia All-Ireland League Division 2B, rounding out a full day of Navan involvement at Crowley Park.
The day concluded just a short distance away at the newly refurbished Dexcom Stadium, where Navan supporters joined a packed house for Connacht v Leinster in Round 10 of the BKT United Rugby Championship. The occasion marked the opening of the impressive new Clan Stand, with a record attendance of 12,481 adding to a fantastic matchday atmosphere.

Navan RFC was once again well represented in the stands, with players from the Men’s 1st XV, Under 18.5s, Under 14s, and Under 11s, along with parents and supporters, enjoying a highly competitive contest that ultimately saw Leinster emerge victorious.
To cap off a brilliant day, the Under 14 Boys were thrilled to meet Leinster, Ireland & British & Irish Lions winger James Lowe, providing the perfect finale to a fantastic club outing.
