12 Aug Navan RFC Quad Featured for Leinster North-East in Portlaoise Blitz
The assembly line of young talent at Balreask Old continues to make waves on the regional stage! Everyone at Navan RFC is celebrating a superb achievement by four of our Under-16 Boys players: Jack Keane, Shay McMahon, Jack Colgan & Ashan Dharmasena.
The quartet stepped onto the pitch at Portlaoise RFC on Tuesday, 11th August, representing the Leinster North-East Area in a high-caliber All-Ireland Blitz Festival as preparations intensify ahead of this season’s Shane Horgan Cup campaign.
Facing top-tier opposition from across the provincial spectrum, the Leinster North-East squad delivered a series of strong, resilient performances throughout the day:
- Game 1: Leinster North-East vs. Ulster — WIN
- Game 2: Leinster North-East vs. Munster — LOSS
- Game 3: Leinster North-East vs. Leinster North-Midlands — WIN
With two impressive victories against Ulster and regional rivals North-Midlands, Jack, Shay, Jack, and Ashan acquitted themselves brilliantly, showcasing high work rates, sharp skill execution, and immense physical commitment.
The Shane Horgan Cup represents the premier inter-area competition for Under-16 boys in Leinster, serving as a vital development platform and primary pathway for players aspiring to reach provincial underage honors.
Seeing four Balreask Old stars feature prominently in the regional setup is a proud milestone for the players, their families, and their youth coaches at Navan RFC.
Huge congratulations to Jack Keane, Shay McMahon, Jack Colgan, and Ashan Dharmasena on a fantastic showing in Portlaoise! Your club, coaches, teammates, friends, and family are all incredibly proud of you as you continue your journey toward the Shane Horgan Cup.
