17 Aug Navan RFC Trio Involved in Leinster U18 Clubs Interpro Victory
Huge congratulations to our three Navan RFC Under-18 Boys who were selected for the Leinster Under-18 Club Youth squad for their opening clash of the 2026 PwC Clubs Interprovincial Series!
Leinster laid down a serious marker to kick off their campaign, securing a dominant 33-7 victory over Ulster on Sunday, 16th August, at Energia Park in Donnybrook. Our local lads played a key role in setting the tempo and controlling the clash from the outset:
- Jimmy Shorten: Anchored the pack with a big physical presence in the back row. Jimmy provided crucial carry options and hard yards in loose play, helping Leinster establish set-piece dominance and keep Ulster pinned inside their own half for large spells of the first half.
- Conor Martin: Directed the play with sharp decision-making and crisp distribution at 9. Conor orchestrated a frantic Leinster opening spell that saw the blues race into a 12-0 lead within the first ten minutes. He marshalled the backline brilliantly as Leinster built a commanding 26-0 advantage by half-time.
- Evan Lawless: Provided vital support and squad depth as a Traveling Reserve.
Leinster set the tone early with two swift tries in the opening nine minutes. By the half-hour mark, Leinster had already secured a four-try bonus-point advantage. Despite a spirited second-half response from Ulster, Leinster’s relentless defense and set-piece power held the visitors at bay before sealing the 33-7 win.
It is a fantastic milestone for the players, their families, and our youth coaching setup at Balreask Old.
