12 Jul Navan RFC Trio Selected for Leinster Training Squad
Huge congratulations to Shona White, Alex Connor, and Rosie Searle on being named in the Leinster Women’s Training Squad ahead of the upcoming 2026 Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Series.
All three will be training intensely over the coming weeks as newly appointed Leinster Women’s Head Coach Sana Govender prepares to finalize his championship squad for the opening round of the Interpros, which kicks off with a massive away trip to Munster on Saturday, 8th August 2026.
A truly special congratulations goes to Shona White, who has earned her very first provincial call-up. Shona’s trajectory in the sport has been nothing short of extraordinary, having only picked up a rugby ball for the first time just over two years ago!
Since then, she has developed into a formidable, indispensable powerhouse for our Women’s 1st XV. She was a pivotal figure in helping the squad secure historic promotion to Leinster Division 1 in 2025, before putting in a true masterclass performance during our Leinster Paul Flood Cup triumph last season. Her commanding display in the final rightly earned her the Player of the Match award. This Leinster selection is a fantastic reward for the sheer dedication, humility, and relentless hard work she brings to every single training session.
Congratulations are also extended to Alex Connor and Rosie Searle, who have successfully retained their highly competitive places in the Leinster training squad.
Both Alex and Rosie are coming off a sensational 12 months. After representing the province in last year’s Interprovincial Championship, they took their games to the next tier, continuing their impressive athletic development on the national stage with Ireland underage caps and Celtic Challenge honors. Their continued presence in the provincial setup highlights the elite, sustainable environment being cultivated within the women’s section at Navan RFC.
The Vodafone Interprovincial Series remains the absolute pinnacle of domestic women’s rugby in Ireland, serving as the primary showcase for national team selection. Having three home-grown Balreask Old players in the mix is a phenomenal milestone for the players, their families, and our coaching staff.
The very best of luck to Shona, Alex & Rosie as they pull on the Provincial training kit and represent the “Navy and Sky Blue” in the capital over the next few weeks. We are all behind you!
