02 Jan NRFC Well Represented in Celtic Challenge Irish Derby
Navan RFC was once again proudly represented at the highest level of the women’s game over the weekend, as Rosie Searle retained her place in the Clovers starting XV for their first Irish derby of the season against the Wolfhounds in Round Two of the Celtic Challenge.
The match took place at Creggs RFC, Co. Galway on Saturday (3rd January), with defending champions Wolfhounds emerging 24–7 winners to return to the top of the Celtic Challenge table.
Despite the result, Searle delivered another strong individual performance in her second consecutive start at openside flanker. The Navan RFC forward put in a series of powerful tackles and carries throughout the contest, further underlining what has been a remarkable season of progression at representative level.
Rosie’s continued selection reflects her rapid rise through the pathway and her growing influence within the Clovers squad. Having started her rugby journey in Navan RFC Minis, she is now an integral part of the club’s Women’s 1st XV and continues to inspire the next generation of players. A formidable competitor on the field and a role model off it, Rosie embodies the values of Navan RFC.
She was cheered on in Galway by her proud parents, Gwen and Barry, who were in attendance to support her latest representative appearance.
Navan interest was also present on the opposing side, with former Navan RFC player Kate Jordan retaining her place in the Wolfhounds starting XV, once again lining out in the second row.
Navan RFC continues to offer a clear and inclusive pathway for female players, with girls’ teams at U10, U12, U14, U16, U18.5 levels, alongside three senior women’s teams, catering for every level and ability.
