Travel Notice: Night-Time Roadworks on R147 (28th Sept – 2nd Oct)

Navan RFC wishes to advise all members, players, parents, and visitors travelling to Balreask Old for training, matches, or meetings this week regarding scheduled night-time road surfacing works on the R147.

The works are being carried out by GLAS Civil Engineering on behalf of Meath County Council as part of the R147 Martha’s Bridge to Circular Road Cycle/Pedestrian Scheme.

Key Works & Travel Information

  • Dates: Monday 28th September – Friday 2nd October 2026
  • Working Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM each night
  • Location: R147 from Circular Road to Martha’s Bridge
  • Traffic Impact: Temporary traffic management will be in place, restricting flow to single-lane traffic during working hours.

Advice for Members & Parents

Delays are anticipated on the approach to Martha’s Bridge and Circular Road during peak training arrival and departure times (7:00 PM onwards).

We strongly advise all members to:

  1. Allow extra travel time when heading to or from Balreask Old in the evening.
  2. Exercise caution on approach to the single-lane traffic management zones.
  3. Use alternative routes into Balreask Old where possible (e.g., via the M3/Junction 8 or alternative local feeder roads) to avoid delays.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as these infrastructure improvements are completed!
