Navan RFC Under 13 Boys bowed out of the McGowan Cup at the quarter-final stage following a hard-fought 38–19 defeat away to Boyne on Monday evening.
Played under lights on Boyne’s impressive new 4G surface, Navan delivered a spirited performance, showcasing both determination and skill throughout the contest.
Navan opened their account through Casey “Racy” Reynolds, who powered over for the side’s first try, with Freddie Davis adding the conversion.
Reynolds struck again later in the game to claim his second try of the evening, while captain Seamus Tobin added another score with a strong display from the centre. Davis also added a second conversion to keep Navan within touching distance.
Despite these efforts, Boyne were able to capitalise on key moments and pull away on the scoreboard in the latter stages.
Navan’s blitz defence was a standout feature, with the team showing excellent organisation, work rate and commitment across the pitch. The coaching team praised the overall effort and attitude, as well as the quality of rugby produced throughout the match.
A special mention goes to Ethan McKenna, who has been outstanding all season. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury and the entire squad and coaching group wish him a speedy recovery.
Navan now turn their attention back to the Leinster Youth Boys U13 Premier League, where they face Mullingar this Sunday.
