U14 Boys 2025/26: A Season of Grit, Growth & Grand Finals

Season Review 2025/26

The Navan RFC Under 14 Boys brought their 2025/26 campaign to a close this past week, and while the scoreboard didn’t favor the “Navy & Sky Blue” in the final two hurdles, the story of their season is one of undeniable success and massive potential.

In a high-intensity final week of knockout rugby, the squad fell to a strong Naas side (33–12) in the Leinster Youth Boys U14 Plate Semi-Final on Thursday evening. They dusted themselves down quickly for a quick turnaround on Saturday, putting in a shift in the Leinster Youth Boys U14 Premier Shield Final against Tullow, ultimately finishing as runners-up with a 17–5 scoreline.

While it’s naturally tough to bow out in the final stages, these results should be viewed through the lens of achievement: reaching both a provincial semi-final and a final in the same week is a phenomenal feat. It speaks volumes about the consistency, stamina, and depth of this squad.

Throughout the season, this group has transitioned from “boys who play rugby” to a “cohesive rugby team.” They have embraced a challenging, expansive style of play, marked by slick handling and a defensive line that never knew when to quit. The resilience shown in their journey to the Shield Final, in particular, proved that this team has the mental toughness to match their physical skill.

A season this busy and successful doesn’t happen by accident. It requires a massive infrastructure of support behind the scenes.

To our Coaches and Mentors, thank you for the countless hours spent on the pitch at Balreask Old. Your patience, tactical guidance, and commitment to the “Navan Way” have shaped these young men not just as players, but as teammates. You have balanced the competitive edge with the fun and inclusivity that defines our club.

To the Parents and Guardians, you are the unsung heroes of this season. From the early morning departures for away games to the mountain of laundry and the vocal support on the sidelines, none of this is possible without you. Thank you for being the “team behind the team.”

As the 2025/26 season concludes, the U14 Boys can hold their heads high. They have represented Navan RFC with pride and passion across the province. They might have missed out on the final trophy this time, but the experience gained in these high-pressure finals will be the fuel for their success next season.

Well done to every player on the squad. Enjoy the Summer Break!
