Leinster Under 14 Girls Division 2 – Round 7
Rhinos 32 Navan 41
Saturday 21st March | Tullow RFC
Navan RFC Under 14 Girls completed an unbeaten phase 2 league campaign with a superb 41–32 victory over Rhinos (Tullow/Carlow) in a thrilling, end-to-end contest at Tullow RFC.
Navan made a bright start, crossing for two early tries to take control. However, Rhinos responded strongly, matching Navan’s intensity and scoring twice themselves to level the game.
The first half continued at a relentless pace, with both sides attacking with intent and defending resolutely. By the interval, the teams were locked at 22–22, setting up a finely balanced second half.
The intensity continued after the break, with both teams trading tries and momentum in a gripping contest. Each time one side edged ahead, the other responded, keeping the outcome in doubt throughout.
Navan’s resilience and attacking quality ultimately proved decisive, as they finished the stronger, adding two late tries to pull clear and secure an impressive win.
A special mention goes to Croì-Ruby Dunne and Kate Finnegan, who both made their first starts in rugby, lining out in the front row and contributing bravely against a strong Rhinos pack.
The victory confirmed Navan’s place at the top of the table, completing the round-robin phase undefeated winning all seven of their games.
They now look ahead to a home league semi-final, scheduled for Saturday 11th April, as this talented group continues an outstanding season.
