02 Oct Under 16 Girls Put in Strong Showing Against Mullingar
Under 16 Girls Friendly – Saturday 26th September
Mullingar 46 Navan 29, Mullingar RFC.
Navan RFC’s Under-16 Girls made the trip to Westmeath on Saturday, 26th September, taking on a formidable Mullingar RFC side in an entertaining and high-scoring challenge match.
With several regulars unavailable and a number of players stepping into unfamiliar positions, the Navan girls showed tremendous heart, adaptability, and attacking flair throughout a 46-29 contest.
Despite the squad shuffle, Navan produced a series of sharp team performances and continuous pressure on the Mullingar defence.
The match provided a fantastic platform for emerging talent to shine.
Pippa Mooney produced an outstanding performance on her Navan debut at centre, putting in heavy tackles, making huge gains with direct carries, and capping off a memorable debut with a superb solo try.
Newcomers Grace Mangan and Mia Williams both made their first-ever appearances in a rugby shirt, delivering standout performances across the park. Williams marked her rugby debut in style by crossing the line for Navan’s final try of the afternoon.
The fixture proved to be an invaluable building block for the squad’s development, with coaches and players taking huge positives from the work rate, team spirit, and character on display.
A special congratulations to Pippa Mooney, Grace Mangan, and Mia Williams on making their Navan RFC debuts, and well done to the entire squad and coaching setup for an encouraging and energetic performance!
