Navan RFC Women’s 3rd XV (J2s) got their 2026 league campaign off to the perfect start with a convincing 22–0 home victory over Portlaoise at Balreask Old on Sunday afternoon.
In an assured all-round performance, Navan controlled proceedings from start to finish, combining strong defence with well-taken scores to keep their visitors scoreless throughout.
Four well-worked tries ensured the win, with Alanna Caffrey, Alanna Kelly, Anna Marchant, and Louise Crinion all crossing the whitewash. Sarah White added the conversion to cap a dominant team display.
Navan’s defensive effort was particularly impressive, shutting down Portlaoise’s attacking threats and maintaining composure across the full 80 minutes. The pack laid a solid platform, while the backs moved the ball effectively to exploit space when it presented itself.
A standout performance came from Sarah White, who was deservedly named “The Central Navan” Player of the Match, following an influential display in both attack and game management. Congratulations to Sarah on a superb performance.
This excellent result marks a strong start to the new year for Navan’s Women’s 3rd XV and is a testament to the commitment and hard work of players and coaches alike.
